BRUNSWICK — Dr. Mary Taplin, a researcher and oncologist at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, will speak during a meeting of the Bath-Brunswick Area Prostate Cancer Support Group at 6:30 p.m. today in the conference rooms adjacent to the cafeteria at Mid Coast Hospital.
Taplin “has for several years played a leadership role in the Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials Consortium and is a prime mover in getting research from the lab to the bedside,” a release from the group states.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
“Prostate cancer survivors when properly treated are having better outcomes than ever before, even when their cancers recur and much of that success is due to the impressive research by oncologists such as Dr. Taplin,” the release states. “In her field she is a highly regarded researcher well known for her innovative clinical trials,” involving hormone treatments and chemotherapy.
