GORHAM — The Colby College men’s lacrosse team used a run of 14 consecutive goals to take command and went on to defeat the University of Southern Maine, 20-5, in a non- conference game Wednesday at Hannaford Field.
The win was the fourth straight for the surging Mules, who improved to 6-3 overall. The Huskies dropped their sixth straight game to slide to 3-7 on the season.
Ian Deveau gave the Mules a 1-0 lead 1:33 seconds into the game.
Freshman Burleigh Desjardins of Brunswick answered for the Huskies two minutes later, but Colby rolled from there, taking a 12- 1 at the half before extending its advantage to 15-1 early in the third quarter.
USM returns to action at Western Connecticut State at 1 p. m., while Colby hosts Williams.
