BRUNSWICK — A 32-year-old Brunswick man was arrested Saturday morning at a Stanwood Street restaurant after allegedly smashing a table and dishes with a hammer and fighting with another man.
Police responded to Jen’s Place at 25 Stanwood St., at 11:11 a. m. Saturday for a report that a man was armed with a hammer, Brunswick Police Deputy Chief Marc Hagan said today.
When officers arrived, several people pointed to a man by then on Stanwood Street who police identified as Thomas Larose, 32, whose street address is not listed.
Larose had no hammer at that time, but he pointed it out to police and they found it on nearby railroad tracks, Hagan said.
Larose apparently fought with a 27-year-old Topsham man over a debt, and then smashed plates and a table in the restaurant, according to Hagan.
He was charged with violation of conditions of release and criminal mischief and taken to Cumberland County Jail. Larose is scheduled to appear in west Bath District Court on June 5.
