BRUNSWICK — A 4-year-old boy suffered a broken leg when he was struck by a car Sunday evening in the Cumberland Farms parking lot at Cook’s Corner.
The child, a Brunswick resident, apparently exited a parked car just before 7 p.m. and started to run into the store unattended, according to Deputy Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department.
The driver of a second car, a 30-year-old Topsham woman, did not see the child and struck him while traveling at a low speed as she backed out of a parking spot.
The child’s mother took the child to Mid Coast Hospital, and police did not respond to investigate the incident for another two hours, Hagan said.
Hagan said the boy sustained a broken leg. He was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman.
No charges were filed in the incident.
