OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League has announced the hiring of Taylor McCarthy as their general manager.
McCarthy formerly worked for the Lowell Spinners, a minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
Prior to joining the Spinners, McCarthy spent a year working exclusively with Boston Bruins play-by-play announcer Jack Edwards for statistical analysis during the 2009-10 Bruins season.
McCarthy, a 2010 graduate at the University of Vermont, worked in the Catamounts Athletic Communications Department, assisting in all aspects for all 16 varsity sports.
The Raging Tide will also be led by new owners and Old Orchard Beach residents John and Pam Gallo.
With new ownership also comes a new league for the Raging Tide. Formerly a member of the NECBL, the team will now play their 2012 season in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League of New England. A premiere summer wood bat league is composed of nine teams from Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Maine.
