GORHAM — Senior guard Nick Nedwick scored 10 of his game- high 25 points in pivotal 19-2 run in the final 10 minutes of the second half to deliver a 58- 44 win for the nationally- ranked Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference men’s basketball game Saturday afternoon at Hill Gymnasium.
The Warriors remained undefeated in the Little East with a 7-0 mark and improved to 14-1 overall. USM fell to 7-9 on the season and 1-6 in conference action.
Husky junior guard Alex Kee of Bath slowed an Eastern Connecticut run with a driving jumper in traffic to pull USM to within two possessions, 49-44, with 6:59 to play, but Nedwick ripped off five straight points on his second 3-pointer of the game and a pair of free throws to lead 54-44 with 3:51 to play.
Kee led the Huskies with 14 points on six-for-11 shooting from the field.
Southern Maine travels to Plymouth State University tonight (7:30 p.m.)
