A man arrested earlier this week after a drunken driving spree in Standish was wanted in connection with a double assault in his hometown of Sanford the same day.

Shawn Little, 40, was seen driving about 70 mph northbound on Route 35 in Standish by Deputy Andrew Feeny of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police reports, Little refused to pull over and turned left onto Moody Road. He attempted to leave the roadway but hit a rock, came to an abrupt stop and was struck by Feeny’s cruiser.

There was some minor damage to the cruiser.

Little was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, failure to submit to arrest, eluding a police officer, criminal speeding and driving to endanger.

The Sanford Police Department contacted the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department 20 minutes after the arrest and said Little had assaulted two people earlier the same evening.
