The Theater Project in Brunswick will open their 2017-2018 season with “DETROIT,” by Lisa D’Amour.
Director Christopher Price leads a cast of four professional actors in this dark comedy that revolves around middle class struggles.
In a first-ring suburb just outside a city that might be Detroit, Ben and Mary see sudden signs of life at the deserted house next door and invite their new neighbors, Sharon and Kenny, over for a barbecue. As the barbeque unfolds, Ben and Mary learn that Sharon and Kenny met at rehab, neither is employed and they don’t own a stick of furniture. The party quickly turns into something more dangerous — but also filled with potential.
The Theater Project will donate 5 percent of all ticket sales from “DETROIT” to UNICEF USA’s Hurricane Relief Effort in Puerto Rico.
“DETROIT” will be on stage at The Theater Project Oct. 12-29. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; and 2 p.m. Sundays. All tickets are Pay-What-You- Want, available online anytime at theaterproject.com, or by calling the box office at (207) 729-8584. The Theater Project is located at 14 School Street in Brunswick.
