BIDDEFORD — Brooke Kelleher scored with 2:11 remaining in overtime to give the University of New England a hard-fought 10-9 win over St. Joseph’s College in a non-conference women’s lacrosse game played Saturday afternoon at the Big Blue Turf.
Jocelyn Davee of Freeport passed to Kelleher from behind the net, and the junior attack carried the ball in front of the cage from the left side before finding the back of the net.
After roaring back from a five-goal second-half deficit, it appeared as if the Monks had won the game just over a minute into overtime, but an apparent game-winning goal was called back due to an illegal stick.
Kelleher and Davee joined Jolena Lampron as multiple-goal scorers for the Nor’easters. Davee and Kelleher also recorded a pair of assists, while Korinne Bohunsky set-up a pair of goals.
UNE will host Thomas College for a non-conference match today at 4 p.m.
