To the editor:
I urge registered Bath Democrats to support my friend and neighbor Jennifer DeChant in the June 12 primary in her bid to become the Democratic candidate for the District 62 seat in the House of Representatives in the Maine Legislature.
Jennifer will be a strong candidate in the general election and an extremely worthy representative if elected. She brings experience in and knowledge of the Legislature to the job, having worked in a variety of staff positions for other Democratic legislators for several years.
Her experience goes beyond politics to include her work in the small business and nonprofit spheres. She has a firm grasp of the regulatory and funding relationships between the state government and the city of Bath, as well as of our city’s critical organizations, such as Main Street Bath, and our local educational system.
Jennifer will be up to speed from Day One when she arrives in Augusta, ready to serve the interests of Bath and its citizens. Like many of us, she has chosen to make Bath her home, and I hope Bath will choose Jennifer DeChant.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
