An old fashioned Christmas is coming again to West Bath. A traditional candle light yuletide service will be held at the Old West Bath Meeting House on 680 Berry’s Mill Road on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. This holiday celebration is a free and open to the public.
Rev. Holly S. Morrison will preside over the nondenominational service.
Morrison serves as fulltime pastor of the Phippsburg Congregational Church, United Church of Christ. She has previously served congregations in Maine, Colorado, Washington State, and Alaska. She shares a farm in Pownal with her wife and a Border collie. Her writing is included in two collections: “There’s a Woman in the Pulpit” (Skylight Paths, 2015) and “The Smeddum Test: 21st Century Poems in Scots” (Kennedy & Boyd, 2012).
Carols will be sung and scriptures and poems, including a Native American prayer for peace, will be read by community members.
The historic old pump organ will be played by Susie Knowles. Home baked goods and hot cider will be served afterwards, courtesy of the West Bath Historical Society, which is hosting the event. The evening’s offering will be shared with the Bath Area Food Bank.
