The Golf remains Volkswagen’s most popular model.
The Golf remains Volkswagen’s most popular model.
German manufacturer Volkswagen announced a few years ago that its goal was to become the biggest car manufacturer in the world. The project continues! One of its most impressive recent unveilings was of the turbocharged hybrid version of the already popular Jetta sedan.

But that is not the only VW star—the recently redesigned Beetle is now available as a pretty convertible. The Beetle is no longer the only car in the Volkswagen lineup with that rounded look, at least since the pretty Eos arrived on the scene. But the German manufacturer is best known for its more economical compact cars, such as the Golf and its sport and station wagon versions.

The aforementioned Jetta looks like a big Golf that includes a trunk. There is even a performance version of that sedan, the GLI. And as if that were not enough, there is the mighty Passat, built in America. As with the Golf and the Jetta, the Passat is available with a thrifty diesel engine in addition to the base five-cylinder or V-6. For people looking for a more luxurious VW, there still is the superb coupe-like CC sedan. Recently redesigned, it can be powered by a turbo four or a V-6 with front or all-wheel drive.

Volkswagen also produces light SUVs, such as the smaller but popular Tiguan, which has frontor all-wheel drive powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The biggest VW is the Touareg, a mid-sized SUV powered by a regular V-6, a turbodiesel V-6, or a very advanced hybrid 3.0-liter-V-6.
