BRUNSWICK — Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program’s food pantry and soup kitchen are expanding their hours to include Saturdays.
The goal is to make meals accessible to people who work weekdays, as well as to provide weeeknd meals for children who receive free and reduced price lunches at school during the week, according to Karen Parker, MCHPP’s executive director.
Both pantry and kitchen are located at 84A Union Street. Pantry hours on Saturday will be 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., while the soup kitchen will serve a hot lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Funding for the expanded hours is provided by The Sewall Foundation.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
