A 54-year-old Windham man was arrested March 5 after he allegedly hit a police officer with his truck.
John Boulanger, of 649 River Road, was arrested after Windham police officers responded at around 9:35 a.m. to a disturbance at 28 Depot St., where Boulanger and a resident of a nearby home were involved in a dispute, according to a press release from the Windham Police Department.
Once on the scene, Officer Paul Cox attempted to calm the situation and was struck twice by Boulanger’s plow truck, the release said. When Cox tried to arrest Boulanger, Boulanger hit him again with the truck, this time knocking him to the ground and nearly running him over.
Cox was slightly injured in the incident, but was not taken to the hospital.
Boulanger has been charged with assaulting a police officer, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, and refusing to submit to arrest or detention. Additional charges my be forthcoming.
