A number of local athletes were recently named all-stars in basketball and cheerleading.

In SMAA boys basketball, Windham’s Garrett Clemmer was named a second team all-star in boys basketball. Teammate Nate Dixon received honorable mention. Steven Simonds of Bonny Eagle was named to the all-rookie team. Brett Benner of Bonny Eagle and Andrew O’Neill of Windham were named senior academic all-stars.

In Western Maine Conference Class B girls basketball, Lake Region’s Abby Hancock and Meghan Craffey were named second team all-stars, as was Gray-New Gloucester’s Rachel Clement. Laura Getchell of Gray-New Gloucester was selected to the third team.

Bonny Eagle’s Caity Bryan was named an SMAA first team cheerleading all-star. Bonny Eagle’s Stephanie Tripp and Ashley DeStefano, along with Windham’s Laura Sanborn, Emily Dodge and Tessa Jeffers, were named to the second team.
