Marcia R. Marley

PORTLAND – Marcia R. Marley, 82, of Portland passed away at home surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Marcia was born July 7, 1940 in Bangor. She was raised there by her loving grandparents, William and Alice Curran.

She attended Bangor Schools and graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School. She went on to obtain her master’s in business from Husson University.

For decades, her professional life was spent as chief operator at the phone company where she met many wonderful lifelong friends.

She was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and AltruSA International Women’s Business club.

She married Robert C. Marley, Sr. and had two wonderful children, Jennifer A. Marley and Robert C. Marley, Jr. Jennifer was her mom’s caretaker for the last five years.

Marcia was a proud pug mom and had six pugs with her husband, Robert C. Marley Sr. She loved playing solitaire, reading and gardening. Marcia loved gambling, her favorite being slot machines. Marcia loved shopping, especially for friends and family. Most of all, she loved entertaining and spending time with friends and family.

Predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Marley, Sr.; aunt Elaine Crow, uncle Brendan Crow; brother-in-law, David Marley and his wife, Pauline Marley.

Marcia is survived by her daughter, Jennifer A. Marley, son, Robert C. Marley, Jr. and his wife Tracy; grandchildren Abigail, Cooper and Griffin Marley; sister Lynne Lappen, brother Robert Curran, sister Peg Curran, sister-in-law, Maureen Arlen and her husband Greg; cousins John Brennan Crow, Andrea and her husband, David Boivin; niece, Kim and her husband, James Moir; nephew, David Marley, Sr. and his wife, Beth; her pug, Emmie; and many loving nieces, nephews; friends; and fur babies.

Should you choose to send flowers, colorful wildflowers would be appreciated.

Visiting hours will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd, South Portland. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at St. Pius Catholic Church, 492 Ocean Ave., Portland. Committal services will be private.
