BRUNSWICK – Emma Louise Farris, 90, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Emma was born in Portland on April 8, 1929, a daughter of Stanley Raymond Albee and Edna Ethel (Koehling) Raymond and graduated from Portland High School.

At an early age, she worked at Maine Medical Center as a nurse’s aide. She later went to Florida and attended Lee County Community College in Ft. Myers and then graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Edison College in Ft. Myers. While in Florida, she worked as a registered nurse at Lee Memorial Hospital.

Upon her return to Maine, Emma went to work at Regional Memorial Hospital in Brunswick. She retired at age 62, however went back to work and retired from Mid Coast Hospital at age 72.

Emma attended the Brunswick Church of the Nazarene, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 20 of Brunswick.

She enjoyed Crocheting and knitting for her grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

Emma is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Albert Farris; a son, Robert Alan Farris; and a brother, Stanley Raymond.

She leaves behind two sons, Albert W. Farris Jr and his wife, Melissa of Brunswick, and Clifford Alan Farris and his wife, Joanne of Hudson, Fla., two daughters, Grace Daniels of Mechanic Falls and Susan Soctomah of Brunswick; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, August 29 at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bath.
