SACO — Downtown Saco will turn into an outdoor art gallery on Saturday during the Saco Main Street Sidewalk Art Festival.
The popular annual festival sponsored by the local economic development group is now in its 48th year.
The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Main Street will be closed to vehicles from Thornton Avenue to Pepperell Square to allow venders to set up in the street and to allow for pedestrians to walk freely.
Saco Main Street Executive Director Rob Biggs said there will be about 67 artists including many favorites from years past and about 12 to 15 new vendors. Biggs said most of the artists who signed up for the show are from Maine, with several young artists from Portland. There are also a handful of artists from Vermont and a few from Massachusetts and New Hampshire expected.
“It represents northern New England quite well,” Biggs said.
There will be a wide range of art exhibited from paintings to reproductions of antique fishing lures, he said.
“There will be a good variety for all tastes,” Biggs said.
The festival will also feature information booths from local nonprofits and community groups as well as live music.
