Alna artist Jon Luoma will be showcasing his work featuring landscapes in Maine and around the world through mid-March.
His paintings depict scenes from southern Maine backcountry, northern Maine wildlands, Baxter State Park, Acadia National Park, and travels outside the U.S., including Newfoundland and the Galapagos Islands. The paintings use traditional Western watercolor techniques, but also reflect influences from Chinese ink painting and its philosophy, which he studied in that country in 2006.
His exhibition, which opened today, will be on display at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick’s Fellowship Gallery through march 13. The church is located at 1 Middle St. in Brunswick; the gallery is open from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 11 a.m. to noon Sunday.
Luoma will be on hand after 11 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18, to talk with individuals and to answer questions.
