STANDISH — Saint Joseph’s College improved to 21-1 with a rout of Suffolk University, 73-45 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women’s basketball contest at the Harold Alfond Center on Tuesday night.
With the victory, the Monks extend their program record winning streak to 20 games, the third-longest active streak in NCAA DIII Women’s Basketball. Saint Joseph’s has also won 32-consecutive home games and 17-straight conference contests.
With the help of four three-pointers in the opening five minutes, Saint Joseph’s opened the game with a 14-4 run, as junior guard Julia Champagne of Brunswick drained a three 4:35 into the first quarter to provide the hosts with a 10- point advantage. Champagne finished with 12 points, five rebounds and six assists.
The Monks play at Albertus Magnus College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
