BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College sophomore Kara Finnerty has been named a Third Team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association in honors announced on Wednesday.
The selection of Finnerty marks the 23rd consecutive season that a least one Bowdoin player has been honored as an NFHCA Division III All-American and she is the fourth sophomore in program history to be named All-American, joining Taryn King, Lindsay McNamara and Rachel Kennedy. She also joins her older sister Colleen, who was a Third Team All-American selection for Bowdoin in 2014.
Finnerty led the Polar Bears with 12 goals, while dishing out five assists for a 29-point season. The sophomore tallied three game-winners, including the overtime tallies against Bates and Williams.
She was also named First Team All-NESCAC and First Team All-Region last month. Through two seasons, she has totaled 19 goals and seven assists for 45 points in 33 contests.
