BATH — The Morse High School jayvee soccer team finished its home season with a 4-2 win over Gardiner recently.
The first goal came early when Meghan Clifford received a perfectly-placed pass from Julia Goddard at the top of the penalty area. Clifford sent a hard shot on the ground past the hands of the Tigers’ keeper.
Goddard matched the goal just a few minutes later when Emily Adams stole the ball from a Gardiner defender and passed it across the field to Goddard for the score.
With 20 minutes left in the half, Clifford offered her second strike of the game, sending a ricocheted shot to the back of the net.
The Tigers managed to send two shots past Morse keeper Abby Sreden (six saves), but the effort came up short.
Defenseman Helena Eich helped her team clinch the win when she sent a ball soaring over the heads of the midfielders, straight to the feet of Mary LaRochelle. The freshman wasted no time with the ball, and sent a hard shot over the head of the goalie for the goal.
Strong defensive performances from Veronica Prager, Hannah Bailey and Katelyn Anderson helped to ensure the ’Builders’ win.
