BRUNSWICK — Rosemary “Posie” Ford, age 70, died Tuesday September 5, 2017 in Maine.

Born in Boston MA, on December 11, 1946 to Raymond and Rose Ford, Posie attended school in Newton, earning an undergraduate degree from the Newton College of the Sacred Heart, and her Masters in Education from Boston College.

With a passion for education and helping children, Posie spent her career teaching elementary school in the Pembroke, MA area until her retirement in 2002. She spent every summer on Birch Island, in Casco Bay, and upon retirement moved to Maine full time with her partner, David Parsons. Mr. Parsons died in 2009.

Posie was a vital part of the community in Brunswick. She was a very active volunteer with the Brunswick Downtown Association, and was awarded Visitor Center Volunteer of the Year in January 2016. Posie was also a familiar face to many at Paul’s Marina in Brunswick. Chances are, if you passed through Brunswick, you met Posie.

She is survived by her sister Bunty Crane (Daniel), her nieces Elizabeth, Nora and Emily (Paul), her nephews Matthew and Brian (Page), her great nieces and nephew, Hartley, Patrick and Mary Rose, and her many friends who were like family, particularly the Marsh family, the Harrower family, and all of the families who made Birch Island feel like home over the years.
