The Midcoast High Winds Flute Choir is a group of upper-intermediate and advanced flutists. The group provides both personal growth for the musicians involved and outreach to the community through performances for local libraries, retirement communities and civic groups.
The High Winds meet on Wednesday afternoons from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Bath Band Hall adjacent to the YMCA.
Attendance at rehearsals is critical, as is practice time at home, in order to provide the best experience for all involved. The group currently has nine members, including piccolos, concert, alto and bass flutes, plus a director. The group hopes to add 3 to 4 more players to the group.
Those interested in joining the group should go to an open rehearsal on Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Bath Band Hall. For more information contact Nan White by email at nancat46@gmail.com.
The band hall is located at the end of Cobb Road, to the immediate left of the new Huse Street Apartments. Parking is available in front of the band building or in the Bath YMCA parking lot in the area furthest away from the building.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
