Cathy Messmer will lead a special talk and tour of Castle Tucker focused on food and cooking on Aug. 23 from 9-11 a.m.
Participants will discover how wife and mother Mollie Tucker prepared meals in her 19th-century kitchen. See the recipes, ingredients and tools she used to feed her family and cook for holidays and special occasions, along with examples of long-forgotten Victorian tableware — and taste a sample of biscuits made from Mollie’s recipe.
The admission price of $10 for Historic New England members and $15 for nonmembers includes a full tour of the house after the program. Advance purchase is required at (207) 882-7169 or shop.historicnewengland.org.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
