ACTON — A 23-year-old Springvale motorcyclist sustained what police say are serious injuries to his leg following a serious crash on Hopper Road about 1 p.m. Sunday.

York County Sheriff William King said Coady Smith, 23, of Springvale, was it was operating a 2012 Victory motorcycle when is lost control and went off the road into a stand of trees near 300 Hopper Road.

In a statement issued late Sunday night, King said responders from Acton Fire & Rescue found that Smith sustained a serious injury to his leg and was taken to to Maine Medical Center in Portland by LifeFlight helicopter.

The crash remains under investigation and is being reconstructed by Deputy Duane Fay of the York County Sheriff’s Office.
