BRUNSWICK
A bomb threat forced the L.L. Bean Manufacturing building on Industrial Parkway to evacuate Thursday evening.
According to a press release issued by Brunswick Police Cmdr. Tom Garrepy, the incident began at 5:41 p.m. when the Brunswick Communications Center received a 911 call for a fire alarm activation at the manufacturing building located at 8 Industrial Parkway.
Shortly after, dispatchers received another call, informing them a note was located which indicated there may have been an explosive device somewhere in the building.
Members of the Brunswick police and fire departments responded to the L.L. Bean manufacturing facility and secured the area. Industrial Parkway was closed to vehicle traffic in the vicinity of the building. Coordinating with L.L. Bean representatives, police called in bomb detection dogs to sweep the interior of the building.
Two K9 teams from the Maine State Police and a third team from Portland Police Department searched for approximately 90 minutes without finding anything suspicious.
The building was turned back over to the L.L. Bean staff shortly before 9 p.m.
Members of the Brunswick Police Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the incident.
