BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin senior Marisa O’Toole and first-year Allison Rutz have been recognized in All-New England softball honors announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

O’Toole was honored as a First Team selection — the first NFCA First Team All- Region selection in program history — while Rutz was named as a Third Team All- Region choice.

A First Team All-NESCAC choice, O’Toole led the Polar Bears with a .423 average this spring. She hit a teamhigh seven home runs and added seven doubles and three triples to post a .750 slugging percentage. Her 18 career home runs end second all-time at Bowdoin while she ranks among the top-10 in program history in hits, doubles and RBIs.

Rutz burst onto the scene with a phenomenal season, racking up a .393 batting average with a team-high 11 doubles and team-high 46 hits. She also was fantastic in the circle, totaling a 7-2 record with a 1.48 ERA and four complete games.

Bowdoin ended its season with a record of 28-10, finishing first in the NESCAC East Division standings.
