TURNER — Bath Middle School defeated Tripp, 9-7, in Tuesday baseball action.
What started out as a low scoring pitcher’s duel turned into a slugfest in the last two innings.
Tripp scored one in the first inning and then pushed another run across in the fourth on hits by Austin Decosta and Asa Leavitt.
Bath (4-4) was held scoreless until the sixth inning when the Destroyers scored two runs on hits by Ty Knowlton, Jansen Morrison and Gabe Aucoin. Boden Gould then singled to left field to drive in two, tying the game, 4-4.
Tripp answered in the bottom of the sixth by scoring two of its own after a leadoff double by Austin DeCosta.
But, Bath rallied for five more in the top of the seventh inning, as Brenton Cahill, Knowlton, Sam Sinibaldi, Gould, Nathanial Jewett and Gavin Baillargeon each singled, and Brogan Shaw doubled to give the hard-fighting Destroyers a 9- 6 lead.
Tripp battled back to score one in the bottom of the seventh and had the bases loaded, but BMS was able to secure the win with two strikeouts dealt by Sinibaldi and a pop fly to end the game.
