ORONO — Fueled by a trio of recently crowned indoor All-Americans, Bates College women’s track and field team opened the outdoor season Saturday with a strong second place finish to the University of Maine in a tri-meet that included the University of New Hampshire.

The host Black Bears scored 134 points, eight points ahead of Bates (126), with New Hampshire third (107).

Senior Allison Hill of Brunswick won the 100-meter dash in 12.52 seconds, .04 seconds ahead of Maine’s Cassidy Hill. The Bates senior leaped onto the program’s alltime top 10 list in fourth place.

Bates will host a three-team meet on Saturday at noon, with Colby and MIT competing.
