Community Center updates
The Westbrook Community Services Department has been hard at work finishing up two new and exciting projects at the Westbrook Community Center.
The new spin studio, featuring 12 spin bikes, is located in the Recreation Wing, at the bottom of the ramp, on the left. The relocation allows for the majority of the center’s fitness classes to be held in this area, with one centralized check-in desk for spinning, Train Your Inner Athlete, master’s swim and lap swim.
Catherine Wilson, recreation coordinator, now has a desk in the pool office, just off the atrium between the new spin studio, gym and pool.
Finishing touches also are under way at Cornelia’s Closet. The resale thrift shop is moving to the front of the building in the former site of the Starlite Cafe & Culinary Center. The re-location will allow for greater visibility and an exterior entrance and drop-off location for the store. Reopening is expected the week of March 6.
Don’t forget Family Swims each Saturday, 4-7 p.m, in the Davan Indoor Pool.
Soon the snow will be gone and “Youth Kickers” soccer and “Big Bat” baseball will be offered. Tennis, track and youth camps are coming up this summer. For the most current program information, visit www.WestbrookCommunityCenter.org.
Chat with police
Westbrook Police Chief Janine Roberts invites residents to join her, her officers and other city leaders to talk about what’s happening in your neighborhood and how they can better serve you. The gathering will be held from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at the Westbrook Community Center’s Community Room.
Interpreters will be available, food from Babylon Restaurant will be served and a special room for small children will be provided.
Coffee with the Mayor
Mayor Mike Sanphy will hold his Coffee with the Mayor from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at Westbrook City Hall, 2 York St.
