BOOTHBAY — As part of the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend, the Boothbay Region Land Trust at Porter Preserve will host a guided Shinrin Yoku, or “Forest Bathing” walk. A press release announcing the event states: “This walk consists of a series of invitations, in which participants slow down and open their senses, while interacting with the natural world.”
The walk covers a half-mile in less than two hours, and will be led by BRLT Environmental Educator and Certified Forest Therapy Guide Tracey Hall.
Registration is required for this free event, and group size is limited to 10 people. The group will meet at the trailhead, Kimballtown Road, Barters Island. Participants are encouraged to wear extra layers and footwear with good traction. For more information or to register, contact Tracey Hall at thall@bbrlt.org or call the BRLT office at (207) 633-4818.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
