WESTBROOK — The Massabesic field hockey team kept its impressive season alive, topping hosting Westbrook 5-1 in the Class A South quarterfinals.
Emma Desrochers kicked things off for the Mustangs, taking a pass from Morgan Pike to score just 10 minutes into the game. Emma Rutledge would then double Massabesic’s lead by scoring a goal with less than two minutes in the first half.
Westbrook came out sharper in the second half, immediately pressuring the Massabesic defense. However, Jackie Bearse would extend the Mustang lead with a score early in the second half.
Westbrook responded by getting a goal less than a minute later from Avery Tucker, however, Rutledge and Logan Champlin would each score in the ensuing minutes to close out the win.
Massabesic will move on to Falmouth in the Class A South semifinals.
