Shaun Rabino, of Staten Island, New York, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 18, 2016. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 3, 1963.

Shaun was a smart and challenging individual who liked to “push the envelope” just to see how far he could. As a youngster he was fun-loving and athletic. He’d much rather play little league baseball than do his homework.

He knew tons of sports facts and trivia and spent his time watching sports on TV. He and his older brother used to banter about teams, players, calls made by refs, and all else sports-related.

Shaun was a devoted partner to Carol Marie, and a devoted father to Joe, 14 and Stefan, 9. He enjoyed family outings at the park for picnics, swimming, biking, playing family board games and bringing his children to visit their grandmother on weekends. He taught his older son to play chess and they often competed against one another. Shaun looked forward to helping with homework, and he was an amazing cook.

Shaun had two sisters. He was predeceased by his older sister Sharon Blum, who died in 2001. His second sister, Moreen Halmo, lives in Brunswick, Maine, with her husband, Michael. Moreen has early fond memories of spending time together with Shaun who was eleven years younger than her. Shaun’s older brother Abe lives with his wife Shirley on Staten Island.

Both of Shaun’s parents predeceased him; his father Ralph Rabino in 1984 and his mother Ida Sokolofsky Rabino in 2011.

Shaun has four nieces and one nephew who will also remember their uncle.
