Outlook: “The boys will look to make it to the state meet for the fourth year in a row,” says Zukowski. “In order to do this, they will need the younger runners to step up and continue the program’s successful tradition. The girls will look for consistent improvement as the year goes on, and will look to be running their best come Regionals time.”

Outlook: “Moving from a team with a losing record to (one with) an even record last season was exciting,” Roddy says. We’re looking to make some changes in our lineup and will focus on smart play in order to continue our success into this season.” The Patriots graduated six seniors in June, which which will create space on the field this year for fresh talent. “As always we will continue to analyze what is and isn’t working on the field and work on making improvements to set ourselves up for success during playoffs,” says Roddy.

Outlook: Renna is optimistic, but not starry-eyed. His headcount is low, and graduation in June claimed three key linemen and the team’s star running back. So a few puzzle pieces will need to fall into place for the program to maintain the turnaround it began last year. “The Patriots will continue to have success if they stay healthy,” Renna says, adding that the squad is “athletic but inexperienced.” The new additions to G-NG’s roster should add some tricks to their bag. Renna sees 3-5 as a realistic goal for his outfit, though they no doubt aspire to outperform even that mark. The team will get some idea of its own potential when they welcome Mtn. Valley in week one. The Patriots “shocked the world, winning up there” in 2015, Renna says, so the rematch should prove a good metric of the outfit stands 12 months later.

Outlook: The Patriots lost two key players to graduation in June, but Bennett remains optimistic about competing near the top of the WMC. “We have seven returning players who saw action in matches last year,” he says, “and we have plenty of depth with newcomers who are showing great potential … I’ll be leaning heavily on my group of juniors to show leadership on and off the course.” The team finished sixth in 2015 and thus missed States, so their goal for 2016 is to improve upon that performance by breaking into the top four, thereby reaching the Championship.

Outlook: Graduation in June stole a strong crowd of seniors from the Patriots, including their entire back line. The team will thus be greener in 2016, and will rely on the “consistent leadership and presence of All-Stars Hayman and Villanueva,” as Higgins puts it. For G-NG to excel, their newcomers will need to quickly acclimate to the WMC’s “day-in and day-out battles.” Expect another competitive season out of the Patriots, despite the obstacles they face.

Outlook: “Capable of playing attacking, dynamic soccer, the Patriots have had a great summer and fall preseason,” says McCormack. “They will look to blend the experience of their junior and senior starters with the energy of their underclassmen to make another bid at the playoffs.” G-NG’s three elder statesmen – Detroy, True and Dixon – will lead their younger brethren, including Martin and Thayer, who “bring lots of speed to the attack,” and Jordan, who “will anchor the midfield.”
