
He was born Nov. 2, 1930, in Biddeford, the youngest of seven children to Philas and Laura Richard. In 1953, he married his sweetheart, Lorette Leblanc, and they spent 56 years together before her death in 2009.
He was a contractor, revitalizing some of Biddeford’s businesses in the late ’60s and ’70s. Maurice and his wife moved to California in 1985, first to the Los Angeles area, and then to the San Francisco Bay area. Maurice and Lorette then relocated to Venice in 1996, where they resided until their deaths.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and wife.
He is survived by: Three children and their families – eldest son Peter Richard of Venice and his wife Beth, eldest daughter Pamela Richard-Torke of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and her spouse Sam, and his youngest child, Kim Stephens of Venice and her spouse, Brett.
He had the proud pleasure of watching four grandchildren grow up: Cori Stephens, Kaitlin Torke, Ian Torke and Hannah Richard.
A private memorial service will be held.
