A Rockland man has been indicted on charges stemming from in incident May 21 during which he allegedly fired a rifle several times following an argument with a family member in Freeport.
A Cumberland County Grand Jury handed down an indictment earlier this month on Linwood Maynard
Grover, 35, on charges of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. All are Class C crimes punishable by up to five years incarceration and a $5,000 fine.
He was also indicted on the Class D crime of assault and the Class E charge of violation of condition of release, which carry punishments of up a year and six months respectively.
Freeport Police Chief Susan Nourse said after the incident that Grover was allegedly visiting a residence on Litchfield Road where he had an argument with a family member that escalated to a physical fight. Grover reportedly got a .22 rifle and shot it several times, she said, but did not injure the family member.
