BRUNSWICK — People considering purchasing buildings with residential rental units, or current owners who want to enhance their skills and knowledge, are encouraged to attend “Owning and Managing Residential Rental Properties” presented by Coastal Enterprises, Inc. The course will be held Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 6-8:30 p.m., at CEI, 30 Federal St., Brunswick.
The course will cover tenant issues including: applications, screening and reference checks, fair housing, leases vs. tenancies at will, security deposits, eviction procedures; and building issues including: property maintenance and repairs, lead and carbon monoxide rules, budgeting, bookkeeping and managing expenses.
Completion of this course fulfills landlord training requirements. This program has been approved by MaineHousing and meets Fannie Mae’s guidelines.
Register in advance by calling CEI at (207) 504-5884. Pre-registration is required and the $35/person fee covers the cost of written materials and handouts. Registrations will not be accepted after Sept. 6.
