SACO — Joseph G. “Jerry” Brulotte, 91, formerly of Biddeford, died Sunday, July 17, 2016, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough.

He was born March 17, 1925, in Biddeford, a son of William and Medora (Bergeron) Brulotte, and was educated there.

Joseph served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Oct. 14, 1946, he married Rozina Berce at Duomo Roman Catholic Church in Gorzina, Italy.

While serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict, he was wounded and returned to the United States. He was decorated for his heroic efforts, receiving the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

After regaining his health, he went to work at the South Portland Shipyard, and then spent seven years with Twomey’s Electric and four years at Pepperell Manufacturing Co.

He ultimately finished his career with a 29 1/2-year stint at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he had the opportunity to work as a pipefitter in several exotic locations, such as California, Hawaii and Scotland, to name a few.

He had been a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, and a long-time volunteer for St. Mary’s Summer Festivals.

Joseph is survived by: Rozina Brulotte, his wife of 69 years, of Saco; three sons, Robert Brulotte and his wife Judith of Biddeford, Raymond Brulotte of Oxford and Reynold Brulotte of Kennebunk; one sister, Claire Roussin of Connecticut; three granddaughters, Sabrina Taylor and her husband Weldon of Arp, Texas, Melanie Boutin of Saco and Jessica Luiggi of Saco; four great-grandchildren, Drew Kiley, Cole Joseph Luiggi, Emma Rose Luiggi and Mia Liliane Luiggi; and several nieces and nephews.
