Harpist Maeve Gilchrist and percussive dancer Nic Gareiss will take the stage at Frontier in Brunswick on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Michigan-born percussive dancer Gareiss and Scottish harpist Gilchrist met while both teaching at the Shasta Fiddle Camp in Northern California. They continued their musical relationship with collaborations at festivals and chance meetings and later toured together as part of Darol Anger’s band The Furies.
Sharing a deep respect for traditional music and culture while drawing on contemporary elements of music, movement, rhythm and improvisation, Gareiss and Gilcrist are at the forefront of the “new acoustic” scene. The percussion of Gareiss’s footwork combined with Gilcrist’s melodies are aimed to delight both the ears and the eyes.
Tickets to this event are $18 in advance at brownpapertickets.com or $22 at the door on the day of show. For more information, contact Frontier at (207) 725-5222.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
