
Charlie was born in Sayre, Pennsylvania May 15, 1933, to Charles and Eleanor (White) Bullett Sr., and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1951.
After serving in the US Army during the period of the Korean Conflict and being stationed in Labrador, Newfoundland, Canada, he returned, working briefly as a welder at Bath Iron Works, and then later attended what was then Portland Business Jr. College preparing him for a successful career in retail sales and management.
Charlie met his beautiful bride of 56 years, Meredith Post, in Skowhegan, ME.,and married there in 1960 while the assistant manager of Crane’s Department Store. He later moved his family to the Bath/Brunswick/Topsham region in 1963 to assist his father with a family business. He joined Sears Roebuck & Company in 1967 as an advertising editorial manager and assisted with the opening of their Cooks Corner store in Brunswick. He remained working for Sears until retiring in 1992. For many years thereafter he was known to shoppers while working parttime retail sales at Treworgy Furniture and Cabot Mill Antiques, and loved to bowl with the Brunswick Senior Bowling league along with his wife Meredith, even serving as the league’s president for many years.
Charlie Bullett had a deep appreciation of music, and played saxophone and clarinet during his school years and later on with many area performance swing and dance bands from throughout New England. Dedicated to church and family, he was very active with the Methodist Church in Brunswick, even serving as an officer of the board for many years, and most recently with the Berean Baptist Church in Brunswick.
He is survived by his wife Meredith, son Charles III and his wife Elizabeth of San Francisco, CA., daughter Susan of Hampden, VA, brother Frederick and his partner Dr. James Seward of Chattanooga, TN, former daughter in-law Nancy Audet of Topsham, grandchildren Sarah (Bullett) Lapine of Portland, Anna Bullett of Portland, Alexander Charles Bullett of White River Junction, VT., and Maxwell Bullett of Lewiston, ME, plus great-grandsons Isaac Edelmann and Everett Lapine, both of Portland, ME.
