BIDDEFORD — Biddeford standout Brook Davis, who helped the Tigers capture the Class A state championship, was recently named the Southwestern Maine Activities Association Player of the Year.

Davis, who was also named All-SMAA first-team catcher, finished her sophomore campaign with an impressive 11 home runs, while also hitting over .600.

Sanford’s Jen Jones was named the SMAA Pitcher of the Year, while Scarborough’s Maggie Murphy won both the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors. Sanford’s Lauren Thompson won the Peter Meagher Award, which is given to a player who represented hard work, both on and off the field, participated in community service and displayed leadership.

Massabesic coach Kevin Tutt earned Coach of the Year honors after leading the Mustangs to the playoffs.

Davis was joined on the first team by teammates Kirsten Lebreux (pitcher) and Erin Martin (utility), Thornton Academy’s Libby Pomerleau (second base) and Maizee Lee (designated player), Sanford’s Jones (pitcher) and Nicole Main (outfield), Massabesic’s Lacey Bean (outfield) and Noble’s Tyler Chastney (outfield).

Also on the first team were Windham’s Olivia Mora (first base), Scarborough’s Murphy (third base), Lilly Volk (pitcher) and Chloe Griffin (utility), Westbrook’s Camryn LaPierre (shortstop) and Cheverus’ Allison Tillotson (utility).

The SMAA second team includes TA’s Louissa Colucci (pitcher), Kaylee Burns (third base) and Hayden Campbell (outfield), Biddeford’s Jocelyn Moody (outfield), Sanford’s Marli Wilson (Designated Player) and Noble’s Mackenzie Aleva (shortstop).

Biddeford’s Grace Martin and Amber Magnant, Massabesic’s Grace Tutt and Sarah Howe, Sanford’s Molly Boissonneault and Morgan Coleman, TA’s Olivia Howe and Hannah Collins and Noble’s Kayla Lessard and Shaughnessey Gower were all named SMAA honorable mentions.
