BRUNSWICK — Senior Buddhist teacher Judith Lief, will give a public talk at Brunswick
Shambhala Center on June 16 at 7 p.m. on “Glimpses of Mahamudra.”
Mahamudra, or the “Great Seal,” is a key practice tradition of the Kagyu lineage and the highest expression of realization in that tradition. Lief will focus on how her teacher and founder of Shambhala Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche infused mahamudra insight into his presentation of the techniques and path of mindfulness/ awareness practice, shamatha and vipashyana. Lief is the compiler and editor of “The Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma,” based on 13 years of lectures given by Chogyam Trungpa at the Vajradhatu Seminaries, advanced programs for his senior students.
Lief was a close student of Chögyam Trungpa, Rinpoche, who authorized her as a teacher in the Buddhist and Shambhala traditions. She has served as one of his primary editors for over 25 years.
Brunswick Shambhala Center is located at 19 Mason Street. Pre-registration is encouraged at MaineShambhala.org.
