BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College junior men’s lacrosse goaltender Peter Mumford has been named Honorable Mention All-American by the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

Mumford is Bowdoin’s first All-American honoree since 2012 and the first Polar Bear goalie to be honored by the USILA since PJ Prest was named Honorable Mention All-American in 2002.

A First Team All-NESCAC and Second Team All-New England selection, Mumford back-boned a Polar Bear defense that was outstanding this spring. He led the conference in goals against average (9.17) and save percentage (.576) , recording double-digits in saves 13 times in 16 games, including a season-best 20 saves in a win over Bates on April 6.

Bowdoin finished its season with a 12-5 record, reaching the semifinals of the NESCAC Tournament.
