TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Middle School and Brunswick Junior High School seventh- grade baseball teams split a doubleheader in Topsham on Tuesday.
The Eagles took the first game, 7- 1, and Brunswick bounced back with a 13- 0 win in game two.
In the first game, Cal Davies pitched and hit to lead Mt. Ararat. Davies struck out five and limited Brunswick to five hits while also recording two hits and scoring twice at the plate.
Xander Wing, Brian Cobb, Austin Berry, Damien Weed, Nic Holland and Conner Moody had key hits for the Eagles. Wing and Andrew Dyer turned in sparkling defensive plays.
In the second game it was all the Brunswick Huskies. Henry Burnham pitched a two-hit shutout, striking out eight Mt. Ararat batters. Burnham also had three hits and scored three runs.
Cody Larsen had three hits and four runs scored from the lead- off spot. Tanner Rapoza, Cam Hathaway and Isaac Albaugh had key hits to lead Brunswick in the victory.
