BATH — Nationally, Independent Bookstore Day is slated for April 30, but Mustard Seed Bookstore owner Julie Shea wants to piggyback on the family-fun Bath Mayfair Day. The Bath store, located at 74 Front St., will celebrate Indie Day on Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., as part of the annual Mayfair festivities.
In addition to a sidewalk sale table, the store will give mothers a free cup of tea, will have a mini-fishing booth for children, and their first-ever book swap.
“For two weeks prior to May 7, we invite customers to bring in gently used books, both hardcover and paperback. For each book (up to ten), we will give customers a ticket, which can be redeemed on May 7 for a different used book. This is a great time to clean out your bookcase and make a swap for another book,” said Shea.
The collected used books will be in the front window until Saturday, May 7, and then will be on a large table inside the store. For more information, call the store at (207) 389-4084.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
