The Public Theatre, Lewiston/Auburn’s Professional Theatre, is now accepting applications for its 2016 Professional Theatre Training Program for Young Actors ages 11 to 16, happening July 11-29. The program is for experienced young performers and “raw talent” alike.
This three week program, offered July 11-29, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will include classes in stage combat, movement, voice and speech, singing and text analysis during the morning sessions. Afternoon sessions will be used for master acting classes and rehearsals. The program will culminate in a public performance at the end of the final week.
The Public Theatre will encourage young actors to tap into their potential — learning to think on their feet and work as an ensemble, building self-esteem, confidence and acting skills, while having tons of fun.
Participation in this program is through audition only. Serious students who seek professional training are urged to apply. Scholarships are available for a limited number of students with appropriate financial need.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
