ORANGE, Calif.
The Bowdoin College women’s tennis team posted its first shutout this season, bouncing back from its first loss of the campaign with a 9-0 sweep of Chapman on Monday.
The second-ranked Polar Bears moved to 5-1 with the win.
Bowdoin wasted little time taking full command of the match, dropping just two total games in a 3-0 doublesplay sweep. Joulia Likhanskaia and Tiffany Cheng led the way, winning 8-0 in the No. 1 slot.
In singles play, the Polar Bears continued to roll, taking straight-set wins in all six positions. Maddie Rolph, Sarah Shadowens and Samantha Stalder all posted 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Men’s Lacrosse
Bowdoin attacker Brett Kujala was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men’s Player of the Week.
Kujala scored eight goals last week as the Polar Bears won a pair of games against Springfield (13-5) and Hamilton (15-10).
He currently leads Bowdoin with 12 goals this season and ranks second in the NESCAC at 3.0 goals per game.
