“Bye Bye Birdie” tells the story of a rock and roll singer, Conrad Birdie, who is about to be inducted into the army. Albert Peterson, Conrad’s agent, and Albert’s faithful secretary Rose Alvarez concoct one final national publicity stunt before Conrad’s induction. Conrad will bid a typical American teenage girl goodbye with a kiss.

Kim MacAfee in Sweet Apple, Ohio, wins the honor. Kim, however, has just been pinned to Hugo, a local boy who becomes insanely jealous. The arrival of Birdie in Sweet Apple causes people of all ages to swoon and the quiet little town goes into a spin as the MacAfee household is completely upset by the visiting celebrity.

It is decided that Birdie will give his One Last Kiss on the Ed Sullivan show. Musical numbers include: “An English Teacher,” “What Did I Ever See in Him?,” “Put on a Happy Face,” “One Boy,” “A Lot of Livin’ to Do,” “Kids,” “Rosie” and “Spanish Rose.”

Performances at Crooker Theater will be March 17 and 18 at 7 p.m. and March 19 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $ 10 for seniors and students and will be available at the Box Office outside of Crooker Theatre. Box office hours are 2:30-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday March 7-11, 2:30-7 p.m. March 17 and 18, and noon to 7 p.m. March 19.
