BUXTON — Gabrielle Bruns of troop 140 in Buxton completed her silver award by donating 64 pillows to local cancer treatment centers in southern Maine.

An event was held at the Buxton Center Elementary School where local Girl Scouts and friends learned about treatments and made pillows from supplies that were donated by local businesses and community supporters. The Girl Scout silver award recognizes 11- to 14- year-old Girl Scouts’ accomplishments. It is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn during her cadette years. The silver award recognizes girls’ involvement in community service activities, qualities to better one’s life and the lives of others.
